Objectives of the position:
Conduct experimental and theoretical research assignments under the guidance of research scientists.
Support innovation processes and scientific work, contributing to continuous improvement in lab operations
Main Areas of Responsibilities:
- Independently perform routine polymer synthesis and analytical tasks using standard techniques, procedures, and equipment.
- Summarize and document results in electronic lab journals; prepare technical reports. Interpret results and suggest next experimental plan accordingly. Support the innovation process & scientific work by proactively proposing conclusions and making own suggestions, adapting and optimizing methods, procedures and workflow.
- Prepare, operate, and maintain lab facilities & equipment (e.g., reactors, analytical instruments).
- Carry out laboratory trials to solve production problems, to modify selected products according to customers’ requirements, to improve production processes and to pre-test production procedures received from BASF Regional prior to up-scaling them into production scale.
- Perform general lab assignments such as raw material inventory review and lab housekeeping.
- Analyze raw materials and identify new local sources suitable for product development.
- Coordinate with procurement, plant or supplier and place raw material purchase order.
- Carry out administrative work related to development activities and maintain documentation standards.
- Comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, and company requirements.
- Ensure that the activities do not disturb or cause any problem for the company and for the environment.
- Ensure required reactions and lab trials are completed on schedule and with accurate results.
- Support technical sales team on development of new test methods.
- Build up local market knowledge in formulation/ dispersion to help research to develop new dispersions.
- Perform Batch card & Catalogue preparation based on experiments.
Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or Polymer Materials
Working Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience in polymer dispersion R&D, production operations, or chemistry lab activities.
Technical & Professional Knowledge:
- Team relevant chemistry, and/or methods and/or technology (= Solid knowledge of subject and processes (can prepare, perform and analyze independently)).
- Team relevant technical equipment (= Solid knowledge of subject and processes (can prepare, perform and analyze independently)).
- Polymer science background preferred
Languages: English (= Advanced basic knowledge (spoken & written for standard information)).
