Position Summary:
We are looking for a Graduate Engineer Trainee – Product Validation & Testing to join our product validation and testing lab.
This role is ideal for someone who is keen to build hands-on experience in product testing, validation, and development within an automotive component environment. The candidate will be trained on lab practices, product validation processes, and technical documentation, and will gradually start handling assigned validation activities independently. If someone enjoys working with actual products, testing setups, and solving real engineering problems, this role will give strong practical exposure early in the career.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Product Validation & Testing
- Conduct validation and testing of products as per defined specifications, test plans, and internal standards.
- Perform tests such as functional testing, performance testing, leakage testing, endurance/life cycle testing, and other relevant validations.
- Accurately record observations, readings, and results during testing.
2. Proto Sample Building & Development Support
- Build proto and development samples for new product projects.
- Support trial activities during product development stages (Sample B, Sample C, PPAP).
- Assist in fitment checks, functional evaluation, and initial troubleshooting.
3. Test Reports & Documentation
- Prepare validation reports, test reports, and technical summaries in a structured format.
- Maintain proper records of test data, observations, and results for future reference and audits.
- Ensure documentation is complete, organized, and traceable.
4. Analysis & Problem Solving
- Observe and analyse test results to identify deviations or abnormalities.
- Support root cause analysis for test failures in coordination with internal teams.
- Compare results against specifications and highlight gaps.
5. Lab Operations & Equipment Handling
- Assist in operating testing equipment, instruments, and setups.
- Support preparation of test setups including fixtures, connections, and sample mounting.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and discipline in the testing lab.
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Product Engineering, Quality, Production, and Purchase teams for sample and testing requirements.
- Participate in discussions related to product development and validation activities.
7. Continuous Learning & Improvement
- Learn and apply best practices in product validation and testing.
- Support improvement of testing methods, formats, and lab processes.
- Show initiative in taking up tasks and improving understanding of products and systems.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Automobile / Production / Mechatronics / Electrical / Electronics
Skills & Attributes Required
- Basic understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Ability to read drawings and specifications (basic level)
- Good observation and analytical skills
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and documentation
- Hands-on approach and willingness to work in lab/shop floor environment
