Role Overview
The engineer will develop, deploy and maintain production-ready backend APIs and geospatial data services using C#, PostgreSQL/PostGIS and Google Cloud Platform. The role combines backend application development, database optimization, cloud infrastructure management, security integration and CI/CD automation for a map-data platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and maintain scalable backend APIs and services in C#.
- Develop and optimize secure, parameterized SQL queries for PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
- Design database structures, migrations and spatial queries supporting GIS and map-data services.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GCP Cloud Build and pipeline technologies such as Tekton.
- Provision, configure and manage GCP services including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Secret Manager, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage and VPC networking.
- Create secure and efficient Docker images using multi-stage and distroless build practices.
- Implement inbound authentication using Azure AD JWT/JWKS and outbound OAuth 2.0 client-credentials flows.
- Manage application secrets and environment configuration through a cloud secret-management service.
- Integrate code-quality, security and licence-compliance gates using SonarQube and FOSSA.
- Support deployment monitoring, pipeline health, incident investigation and remediation of technical risks.
- Collaborate through GitHub-based workflows, pull requests, code reviews and controlled release processes.
- Prepare technical documentation and periodic status reports covering development, migrations, testing, pipeline health and blockers.
Required Technical Skills
- Expert proficiency in C# and strong experience building production backend APIs.
- Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL, including query optimization, transactions and database design.
- Hands-on experience with PostGIS, spatial data and geospatial queries.
- Practical experience with GCP services, particularly Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Build and Secret Manager.
- Strong understanding of Docker containerization and secure image-build practices.
- Experience implementing REST APIs, JWT authentication, JWKS validation and OAuth 2.0.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub, CI/CD automation and DevOps workflows.
- Knowledge of SonarQube, FOSSA or equivalent quality and compliance tools.
- Strong mathematical understanding and ability to work with CAD and GIS coordinate systems.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Node.js for backend or supporting services.
- Familiarity with ReactJS for supporting web-based map or data-management viewers.
- Experience with AutoCAD and C#-based CAD automation.
- Exposure to Tekton or comparable deployment-pipeline tools.
- Familiarity with manufacturing process authoring, facility-layout planning or industrial GIS applications.
Experience and Qualification
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in backend development and cloud infrastructure engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
- Demonstrated experience owning both application code and infrastructure automation in a production environment.
