Job Summary
The Elevator Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and modernizing mechanical and electrical lift systems. This includes elevators, chairlifts. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical troubleshooting skills (electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical) with a deep commitment to safety regulations and passenger security.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Inspection: Perform routine preventative maintenance, testing, and safety inspections on lifts to ensure compliance with national, state, and local safety codes.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose malfunctions in brakes, motors, switches, control systems, and counterweights using test equipment like voltmeters and digital multi-meters. Repair or replace faulty components.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency service calls, troubleshooting breakdowns and safely extricating trapped passengers if necessary.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, digital logs of service calls, maintenance performed, parts used, and safety testing compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: High School, Diploma or ITI equivalent. Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program (e.g., National Elevator Industry Educational Program - NEIEP) is highly preferred.
- Licensure: A valid state Elevator Mechanic License is required in most jurisdictions.
- Technical Literacy: Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, architectural blueprints, and building codes.
- Tools: Proficient with hand tools, power tools, hoists, and diagnostic testing equipment.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, punctuality, and excellent customer service skills when interacting with building managers.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Must be comfortable working in cramped spaces, elevator pits, and at significant heights on top of cabs or staging.
- Ability to lift up to 50–70 lbs regularly and stand, kneel, or climb for extended periods.
- Requires participating in a rotating on-call schedule for evening, weekend, and holiday emergency responses.
Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
