We are looking for a hands-on Production Chemist to manage day-to-day batch manufacturing of cosmetic and personal care products (creams, lotions, gels, serums, ointments) at our FDA-licensed manufacturing facility. The role requires strong command over manufacturing processes, batch documentation, and in-process quality checks, in a third-party/contract manufacturing (OEM/ODM) environment where multiple client formulations run in parallel. Prior experience in a cosmetic or pharmaceutical contract manufacturing unit is strongly preferred, as the person must be able to independently execute varied formulations to exact specifications with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities

Operate and supervise manufacturing equipment including 25 kg and 300 kg ointment/manufacturing units and tube filling/sealing machines. Ensure accurate weighing, charging, mixing, and processing of raw materials as per formulation sequence, temperature, and time parameters. Maintain complete and accurate batch records, production logs, and yield/reconciliation statements for every batch. Conduct in-process checks (viscosity, pH, appearance, homogeneity) and coordinate with QA/QC for release of intermediate and finished product.
Handle multiple client formulations simultaneously with strict adherence to line clearance and cross-contamination prevention protocols.
Coordinate with the Warehouse team for timely issuance of raw materials (RM) and packing materials (PM) as per production schedule.
Report deviations, out-of-specification results, or equipment malfunctions immediately to the Production Manager/QA Head.
Maintain machine cleaning, calibration, and preventive maintenance schedules; ensure GMP and housekeeping standards on the shop floor.
Support scale-up of new formulations from the R&D lab to commercial batch size. Ensure compliance with Cosmetics Rules 2020, Schedule M, and ISO 22716 (Cosmetic GMP) standards during all manufacturing activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry, Cosmetic Technology, or related science discipline. 2–5 years of hands-on production experience in a cosmetics, personal care, or pharmaceutical contract/third-party manufacturing unit (mandatory).
Working knowledge of Cosmetics Rules 2020, Schedule M, and GMP documentation practices.
Prior experience handling multiple client/brand formulations in a contract manufacturing (OEM/ODM) setup is highly preferred.
Familiarity with ointment manufacturing equipment, homogenizers, and tube filling/sealing machinery.
Skills & Competencies Strong batch documentation and record-keeping discipline.
Sound understanding of emulsions, gels, and semi-solid formulation processing.
Ability to work under production deadlines across multiple concurrent client orders.
