Department: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Reports To: Medical Superintendent / Managing Director
Experience: Relevant experience in ICU/Critical Care preferred.
Role Overview
The ICU In-Charge / ICU Specialist will be responsible for the clinical management of critically ill patients, supervision of ICU operations, and coordination with the multidisciplinary medical and nursing teams. The role requires strong clinical judgment, emergency management skills, and the ability to ensure high standards of patient safety and critical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients admitted to the ICU.
- Provide timely intervention during medical emergencies and critical situations.
- Conduct regular patient rounds and monitor treatment progress.
- Manage ventilated, hemodynamically unstable, and high-risk patients as appropriate to qualifications and scope of practice.
- Coordinate with consultants, surgeons, physicians, nursing staff, and other clinical departments.
- Supervise ICU protocols, clinical documentation, medication, investigations, and patient monitoring.
- Ensure proper utilization and functioning of ICU equipment, including ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps, and emergency equipment.
- Lead and guide the ICU medical and nursing team to maintain quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with infection-control, patient-safety, resuscitation, and hospital protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients' attendants regarding treatment plans, progress, and critical conditions.
- Participate in emergency response, resuscitation, and code management.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure timely reporting.
- Support quality improvement, clinical audits, and ICU performance initiatives.

MD – Anaesthesiology
DA – Anaesthesiology
DTCD
MD – Paediatrics
DCH
MD – Pulmonary Medicine / Respiratory Medicine
MD – Critical Care Medicine
MS – General Surgery
