Seeking an experienced Shipbuilding Carpenter to support shipbuilding, ship repair, and shipyard projects. The candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures, templates, molds, staging, and interior fittings used during ship construction and maintenance activities.
The ideal candidate should possess strong craftsmanship skills, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and experience working in shipyards or marine construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct and install wooden structures, templates, molds, and frameworks used in shipbuilding activities.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Fabricate staging, scaffolding, platforms, and supports for ship construction and repair work.
- Carry out interior carpentry work including paneling, flooring, cabinets, and accommodation fittings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans.
- Perform repair and maintenance of damaged wooden structures and fittings.
- Operate carpentry machinery, power tools, and hand tools safely.
- Ensure compliance with shipyard safety procedures and quality standards.
- Work closely with fabrication, welding, painting, and engineering teams.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Requirements
- ITI / Trade Certificate in Carpentry or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine construction, or heavy industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, measurements, and fabrication methods.
- Ability to read technical drawings and construction blueprints.
- Experience using woodworking machinery and power tools.
- Good understanding of shipyard safety procedures.
- Physically fit and capable of working in demanding shipyard environments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in shipyards, dry docks, offshore projects, or marine construction.
- Experience with accommodation outfitting and interior ship finishing works.
- Knowledge of scaffolding and temporary structure fabrication.
- Familiarity with laser measurement and precision alignment tools.
Pay: ₹150,000.00 - ₹200,000.00 per month
