Job Title: Process Head – Solar Cell Manufacturing
Location: Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra
Experience Required: 10–15+ years in solar cell manufacturing (PERC/TOPCon/HJT preferred), with strong process engineering expertise. Role Overview The Process Head will lead and optimize all process engineering functions within the solar cell manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for driving process stability, yield improvement, efficiency enhancement and technology upgrades while ensuring highquality production at optimal cost.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process Ownership & Optimization Own end-to-end solar cell manufacturing processes including: o Texturing & Cleaning o Diffusion (POCl₃ / advanced doping) o PECVD / ALD (passivation layers) o Metallization (screen printing / plating) o Firing & Testing Ensure process stability and repeatability across production lines Optimize process parameters to improve cell efficiency, yield and throughput
2. Yield Improvement & Loss Reduction Identify yield losses and implement corrective actions Drive defect reduction (breakage, shunts, recombination losses, etc.) Lead structured problem-solving (RCA, FMEA, DOE) Continuously improve line yield and conversion efficiency
3. Technology Development & Upgradation Lead implementation of advanced technologies Evaluate and deploy new materials, processes and equipment Work with R&D and equipment suppliers on process innovations
4. Process Control & Standardization Establish robust SOPs, control plans, and SPC systems Monitor critical process parameters and KPIs Ensure process compliance with internal and external standards
5. Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with: o Production for line performance o Quality for defect reduction and compliance o Maintenance for equipment uptime o Supply chain for material consistency Support new product introductions (NPI)
6. Data Analysis & Digitalization Utilize MES and data analytics tools for process monitoring Drive data-driven decision-making Implement initiatives (AI/ML for yield improvement, predictive analytics)
7. Cost Optimization Reduce process-related costs (chemicals, gases, silver paste, utilities) Improve material utilization and reduce wastage Contribute to lowering cost per watt
8. Team Leadership Lead and mentor process engineering teams Build technical capabilities and training programs Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
9. Compliance & Safety Ensure adherence to EHS standards and safe handling of chemicals/gases Maintain compliance with industry standards (ISO, IEC, BIS where applicable) Key Skills & Competencies Strong expertise in solar cell process engineering Deep knowledge of PERC / TOPCon / HJT technologies Hands-on experience with DOE, SPC, Six Sigma tools Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Familiarity with MES, data analytics and automation systems Ability to lead cross-functional teams Educational Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical / Chemical / Materials / Mechanical / Physics) Advanced certifications in Six Sigma / Lean preferred Preferred Experience Experience in high-volume (GW-scale) manufacturing Exposure to greenfield or line ramp-up projects Hands-on experience with leading equipment suppliers (e.g., diffusion furnaces, PECVD tools, screen printers) KPIs / Success Metrics Yield improvement (%) Cell efficiency gains Defect density reduction Process stability (Cp/Cpk) Cost per watt reduction Line throughput improvement
