Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Summary
The Lab Technician supports laboratory operations by performing routine tests, preparing samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation of results. This role ensures laboratory procedures are carried out efficiently while complying with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, receive, label, and prepare samples for testing and analysis
- Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures according to established protocols
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
- Record, analyze, and report test results accurately
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation
- Monitor and manage laboratory inventory, including ordering and checking expiry dates
- Ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals and specimens
- Follow laboratory safety guidelines, infection control procedures, and quality standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory work areas
- Assist senior laboratory staff or supervisors with special projects and research (if applicable)
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Diploma or certification in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field (preferred/required depending on regulations)
- Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer and data entry skills
Experience
- Previous experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or clinical setting is an advantage
- On-the-job training may be provided for entry-level candidates
