Indo Chats Pvt. Ltd. is a pre-launch, India-based super-app startup building a modern messaging and social platform that combines secure communication, social sharing, and everyday utility tools in a single unified application. The company operates through three registered entities — Indo Chats Pvt. Ltd. (Kolkata, India; DPIIT-recognised), and is presently building out its founding team ahead of launch.
About the Role
IndoChats is looking for a qualified Accountant to lead and manage its financial operations, statutory compliance, and accounting systems across its Indian entity, as the company prepares for fundraising and scale. This is a foundational finance hire for a pre-launch startup, offering the opportunity to build financial processes and controls from the ground up. The role is available on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on candidate fit and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end statutory and regulatory compliance for Indo Chats Pvt. Ltd., including ROC filings, income tax, GST, TDS, and other applicable Indian corporate compliances.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate books of accounts, financial statements, and MIS reports.
- Support financial planning, budgeting, and cash-flow management for a pre-launch startup environment.
- Assist in preparing fundraising-related financial documentation, investor reporting, and due-diligence materials.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, company secretaries, and legal advisors as required.
- Advise the founding team on tax-efficient structuring, DPIIT-related compliance,
- Establish and maintain sound internal financial controls, accounting policies, and documentation standards suitable for an early-stage, scaling organisation.
- Support the annual audit process and ensure timely closure of statutory filings and assessments.
Candidate Requirements
- Prior experience in startup, technology, or fast-growing company environments preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Indian corporate law, taxation (direct and indirect), and ROC/DPIIT compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with fundraising processes, investor reporting, and financial due diligence is an advantage.
- Exposure to cross-border or multi-entity group structures is a plus, given Indo Chats' operations across India, UAE, and the UK.
- High degree of integrity, ownership, and comfort working in a lean, early-stage startup setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with founders and external stakeholders.
Engagement Details
Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (candidate's preference to be discussed at interview)
Location: Kolkata, India (on-site / hybrid, to be discussed)
Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience and engagement type; open to discussion
Reporting To: Founder & Project Director, Indo Chats Pvt. Ltd.
