CNC Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) Operator – Fresher

Job Summary
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated freshers who are interested in building a career in CNC machining and precision manufacturing. The selected candidate will receive on-the-job training to operate CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) used in the machining of large, high-precision industrial and defence components.
The role offers excellent learning opportunities in CNC machine operation, engineering drawings, quality inspection, machining processes, and manufacturing best practices. Successful candidates demonstrating strong technical aptitude, discipline, and performance will be considered for permanent employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings under the guidance of senior operators and supervisors.
- Assist in setting up CNC Vertical Turning Lathe machines for production.
- Load and unload workpieces using appropriate lifting equipment and follow safe material handling practices.
- Learn to perform machining operations such as facing, turning, boring, grooving, drilling, and threading.
- Assist senior setter/operators during machine setup, tooling changes, and program verification.
- Monitor machining operations and report abnormalities such as unusual vibrations, tool wear, alarms, or dimensional deviations.
- Perform dimensional inspection using Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, bore gauges, depth gauges, and other basic measuring instruments.
- Record inspection results and maintain production records, job cards, and shift reports.
- Perform basic machine cleaning, coolant checks, lubrication, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain proper housekeeping around the machine and follow 5S practices.
- Follow all company quality standards, safety procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve daily production targets.
- Participate in technical training programs to develop CNC machining and programming skills.
Desired Candidate Profile
- ITI (Machinist, Turner, Fitter) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Freshers are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of machining processes is preferred.
- Willingness to learn CNC VTL operation and precision manufacturing.
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of measuring instruments is preferred.
- Positive attitude, good discipline, and willingness to work in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in shifts if required.
