Job Purpose
The General Ledger Accountant will provide accounting and financial support to the UAE Finance team by managing accounts payable, general ledger transactions, inventory costing, banking, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and month-end closing activities. The role requires close coordination with the Dubai office and adherence to UAE business processes and reporting timelines.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Accounts Payable
- Record supplier invoices, purchase transactions, and landed cost entries in SAP.
- Process approved expenses, including employee reimbursements and corporate credit card expenses.
- Process supplier payments through online banking, cheques, and corporate credit cards.
- Maintain accurate General Ledger and Accounts Payable records.
- Monitor Accounts Payable ageing and outstanding transactions.
- Process Goods Receipt PO (GRPO), A/P Reserve Invoices, Credit Memos, and Down Payments.
- Reverse A/P Reserve Invoices for short supplies on a timely basis.
Inventory & Import Costing
- Calculate and maintain landed costs.
- Update approved price lists in SAP.
- Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, logistics, and other departments regarding import documentation.
- Handle accounting for direct shipments.
- Reconcile demurrage, port handling charges, DP World, Dubai Customs, and DWC Portal transactions.
Fixed Assets
- Record fixed asset purchases.
- Maintain fixed asset master data.
- Ensure proper capitalization and accounting.
Banking & Reconciliations
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile corporate credit cards.
- Process cheque payments and monitor cheque clearances.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations.
- Reconcile e-commerce accounts, customs accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
Sales & Customer Accounting
- Process customer receipts and credit notes.
- Support e-commerce and consignment billing.
- Verify regional credit note requests in accordance with approved pricing policies.
- Ensure all stock-related sales vouchers are cleared after month-end closing.
Reporting & Closing
- Prepare daily and monthly accounting reports.
- Support month-end and year-end financial closing.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Coordinate regularly with the UAE Finance team and regional business units.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- Professional qualification (ACCA/CMA/CA Inter or equivalent) will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience.
- Experience in SAP ERP is mandatory.
- Experience in FMCG, trading, distribution, or import/export businesses is preferred.
- Experience supporting GCC/UAE companies will be an added advantage.
Skills
- Strong SAP knowledge.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with overseas teams.
