Job Summary
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in overseeing financial operations, maintaining robust accounting systems, and ensuring strict statutory compliance across business activities. This role involves managing day-to-day book-keeping, financial reporting, GST/taxation filings, audit preparation, and supervisory oversight of junior accounting staff to maintain financial integrity and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities1. General Accounting & Financial Management
- Oversee and verify daily accounting entries, vouchers, ledger postings, and bank reconciliations (Tally / ERP software).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statements).
- Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable (debtors ledger), and accounts payable (creditors ledger), ensuring timely collections and payments.
- Manage inventory valuation, stock audits, and cost-accounting reconciliations across departments/units.
2. Statutory Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure full compliance with GST, TDS, PF, ESI, and Income Tax regulations.
- Prepare, verify, and file monthly/quarterly tax returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, TDS returns, etc.) without default or delay.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and banking institutions for annual audits, loan compliance, and statutory filings.
- Track changes in tax laws and government policies to ensure organizational alignment.
3. Payroll & Administrative Finance
- Verify monthly payroll calculations, statutory deductions (PF/ESI/PT), and disbursement details before processing.
- Manage vendor payments, purchase invoices, and contract disbursements in coordination with operational leads.
- Oversee petty cash allocations, expense approvals, and branch financial operations.
4. Supervision & Team Leadership
- Guide, supervise, and review the work of Junior Accountants to ensure accuracy and deadline adherence.
- Establish internal control measures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for financial recording and documentation.
- Provide ad-hoc financial reports, variance analyses, and budget tracking for management decision-making.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in Tally Prime / ERP systems, MS Excel (Advanced), GST portal, and income tax filing systems.
- Compliance & Legal: Thorough understanding of Indian accounting standards, Indian tax laws (GST, TDS), and statutory labor compliance (PF, ESI).
