Job Summary:
Sr. Designer will lead the design and development of sheet metal components and tooling solutions for the manufacturing unit. The role involves overseeing design operations, ensuring accuracy in drawings, optimizing product design for manufacturability, and leading a team of designers to deliver high-quality engineering outputs. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in thin sheet metal components, welding fixtures, and advanced tooling concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design department, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of design projects.
- Develop and review sheet metal component designs (1 mm thickness and similar thin-gauge materials) as per production and client requirements.
- Design and develop press tools, dies, draw tooling, ribs, flooring structures, and reduction features (up to 10 mm) for manufacturing processes.
- Design and validate welding fixtures, gauges, and inspection tools for production accuracy and repeatability.
- Ensure all designs are optimized for cost, quality, and manufacturability (DFM).
- Create and validate detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Coordinate with production, quality, and procurement teams for smooth execution of projects.
- Implement design standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct feasibility studies and design validation before production release.
- Troubleshoot design-related issues during manufacturing and tooling stages.
- Mentor and develop the design team to enhance technical capabilities.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong expertise in Sheet Metal Design (including thin sheets ~1 mm thickness)
- In-depth knowledge of Draw Components, Press Tool Design, Rib & Flooring Structures, and Reduction Techniques
- Hands-on experience in Welding Fixtures, Gauges, and Tooling Development
- Proficiency in AutoCAD & SolidWorks
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, forming, bending, and tooling
- Leadership and team management skills
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Attention to detail and strong quality orientation
Experience & Qualification:
- B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing/design
- Minimum 5+ years in a leadership role (preferred)
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
