A supermarket salesperson is the face of the store, tasked with delivering exceptional customer service, driving sales, and maintaining product displays. They assist shoppers, handle stock rotation, and process payments while keeping the sales floor clean, organized, and compliant with safety guidelines.
1. Customer Service & Sales
- Welcome shoppers, answer product inquiries, and guide them to specific aisles.
- Recommend complementary products, upsell, and inform customers about ongoing promotions to meet sales targets.
- Handle customer complaints or direct complex issues to the store manager.
2. Stock & Inventory Management
- Restock shelves, arrange products neatly, and build eye-catching displays.
- Perform routine quality checks, removing expired, damaged, or spoiled goods.
- Rotate stock (FIFO method), ensuring older inventory is placed at the front.
- Monitor low inventory levels and report them to the inventory supervisor. [1, 2, 3]
3. Cashier & Point of Sale (POS) Duties
- Operate cash registers, scan barcodes, and process cash, card, and digital payments.
- Accurately handle cash drawers, balance daily sales, and bag customer purchases.

4. Store Maintenance & Compliance
- Maintain store cleanliness, sweep floors, and clean spills in the assigned department.

Qualifications & Essential Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to build customer rapport.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects (e.g., bulk stock) and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Product Knowledge: Familiarity with FMCG goods, grocery categories, or specific departmental items.
- Tech Skills: Basic math and experience with POS systems or inventory tracking
Pay: ₹5,000.00 - ₹12,000.00 per month
