Job Summary
The Finance Executive will be responsible for managing financial operations across multiple retail stores, ensuring accurate accounting, strong financial controls, inventory governance, budgeting, profitability analysis, and statutory compliance. The role requires close coordination with store operations, procurement, and corporate finance teams to drive financial discipline, optimize working capital, and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Multi-Store Financial Operations
- Standardize and oversee daily cash, card, UPI, and digital wallet reconciliations across all retail stores.
- Ensure timely closure of daily sales transactions and reconciliation of store collections.
- Monitor store-wise cash management processes and ensure adherence to financial controls.
- Review and resolve reconciliation discrepancies in coordination with store teams.
2. Store Profitability Analysis
- Prepare and analyze monthly store-wise Profit & Loss statements.
- Track actual performance against budgets and identify key variances.
- Generate financial reports and dashboards to support management decision-making.
- Provide insights on sales trends, operating expenses, margins, and profitability improvement opportunities.
3. Inventory Control & Audit
- Monitor inventory valuation and ensure accurate accounting of stock movements.
- Coordinate periodic physical stock counts and inventory audits across stores.
- Investigate stock variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Implement controls to reduce inventory shrinkage, pilferage, and obsolescence.
4. Working Capital Management
- Manage vendor payments and ensure adherence to agreed payment terms.
- Monitor store-level cash flow requirements and optimize cash reserves.
- Track accounts payable and support timely settlement of liabilities.
- Assist in improving working capital efficiency and cash utilization.
5. Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Support the preparation of annual operating budgets and forecasts.
- Collaborate with business leaders to develop store-wise revenue and expense plans.
- Monitor budget utilization and provide regular variance analysis.
- Assist in financial planning for new store openings and expansion projects.
6. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely filing of GST, TDS, and other applicable statutory returns.
- Maintain compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of financial records and supporting documentation.
7. Process Improvement & Controls
- Strengthen financial controls and standard operating procedures across retail locations.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial governance standards.
- Support implementation of ERP and retail finance systems.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy and timeliness of store reconciliations.
- Store-wise P&L reporting and variance analysis.
- Inventory accuracy and shrinkage control.
- Timely vendor payments and AP management.
- Budget adherence and cost optimization.
- Compliance with statutory and audit requirements.
- Reduction in financial discrepancies and process exceptions.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- 3–5 years of finance and accounting experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, or multi-location operations.
- Experience in handling store accounting, inventory controls, and financial reporting.
