Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining backend APIs using Node.js
- Support the development of backend services for web and mobile applications
- Work with MongoDB and MySQL databases to store and manage application data
- Write basic database queries and learn query optimization techniques
- Help integrate third party APIs and external services
- Collaborate with frontend and mobile developers during feature development
- Write clean, readable, and maintainable code under the guidance of senior developers
- Test, debug, and fix backend issues
- Learn backend best practices, coding standards, and development workflows
- Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and technical documentation
- Bonus: Assist in implementing real time features using WebSockets or Socket.IO
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript and Node.js
- Familiarity with Express.js or NestJS through academic projects or personal projects
- Understanding of REST APIs and client server communication
- Basic knowledge of MongoDB or MySQL
- Understanding of database concepts such as collections, tables, and relationships
- Basic understanding of asynchronous programming using async and await or Promises
- Familiarity with Git and version control fundamentals
- Good analytical thinking and problem solving skills
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and backend development practices
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team
Preferred Skills
- Personal, college, or open source projects built with Node.js
- Basic understanding of JWT based authentication
- Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman
- Basic knowledge of Docker or cloud platforms such as AWS or DigitalOcean
- Exposure to Socket.IO or WebSockets is a plus
- Understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodology is a plus
