Job Title: Marine OBM & Jet Ski Mechanic – 2 & 4 Stroke Engines
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Marine OBM & Jet Ski Mechanic responsible for inspection, troubleshooting, repair, servicing, and maintenance of 2-stroke and 4-stroke outboard boat engines and personal watercraft (Jet Ski) engines. The candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of marine propulsion systems, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and field servicing.
Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of marine outboard motors and Jet Ski Engine. Must have experience in engine diagnostics, fuel systems, ignition systems, engine overhaul, and preventive maintenance. Candidates with experience in Yamaha, Sea-Doo, Kawasaki Jet Ski, Suzuki, Mercury, Tohatsu or Honda marine engines preferred.
Key Responsibilities: Engine Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose faults in marine outboard motors and Jet Ski Engine.
- Perform routine servicing, preventive maintenance and tune-ups.
- Conduct engine overhauls and rebuilds for 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines when required.
- Repair or replace defective engine and electrical components.
- Handle impeller, jet pump, steering, throttle, and drive system maintenance for Jet Skis.
- Handle carburetor cleaning, fuel system servicing, and ignition repairs.
- Service cooling systems, lubrication systems, and exhaust systems..
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
- Use diagnostic tools and marine testing equipment to identify engine and electrical faults.
- Troubleshoot issues related to:
- Engine starting failure
- Overheating
- Power loss
- Excessive smoke
- Fuel leakage
- Water intrusion
- Vibration and abnormal noise
- Jet propulsion issues
Installation & Testing
- Install outboard motors, Jet Ski components, and accessories.
- Conduct water trials and operational testing after repairs and servicing.
- Ensure engines and watercraft meet operational and safety standards.
Electrical & Electronic Systems
- Diagnose and repair marine electrical systems including:
- Battery systems
- Charging systems
- Starter motors
- Sensors and control units
- Digital gauges and control panels
Safety & Compliance
- Follow marine workshop safety procedures.
- Ensure proper handling of fuel, lubricants, and hazardous materials.
- Maintain cleanliness of workshop and tools.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of marine OBM and Jet Ski engines
- Experience with 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine systems
- Understanding of jet propulsion and impeller systems
- Knowledge of marine electrical and ignition systems
- Familiarity with EFI and carburetor systems
- Ability to read technical manuals and wiring diagrams
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Brands Experience
Experience in servicing engines and personal watercraft from brands such as:
- Yamaha
- Sea-Doo
- Kawasaki Jet Ski
- Suzuki
- Mercury
- Honda Marine
- Tohatsu
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field
- Certification in marine engine repair is an advantage
- 1–3 years of experience in marine engine servicing preferred
Working Conditions
- Marine workshop / dockyard / fishing harbor environment
- May require travel for on-site vessel repairs
- Ability to work in outdoor and humid conditions
