Dakshin Dumdum Pathan Paathan Samity, a Kolkata based Registered NGO, is looking for engaging Subject Teachers for its online smart classes, on full time basis, for the West Bengal Board curriculum.
1. About Pathan Paathan
Pathan Paathan is a government-registered NGO that has been working dedicatedly in the education sector across West Bengal for the last five years. Our primary mission is to bridge the educational divide by providing high-quality, free education to the underprivileged students in rural and remote areas of Bengal.
We operate through six state-of-the-art smart classrooms equipped with large displays, computers, and high-speed internet across various districts. Currently, we offer comprehensive online coaching to students in Classes V to X under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE). To ensure consistency, academic excellence, and deeper engagement, we are transitioning from a volunteer-led model to a dedicated core team of professional educators.
2. Job Description:
High School Subject Teacher (Remote/Hybrid)
3. Positions Available: 4 Vacancies
We shall be hiring for each of the following subjects:
i) Mathematics
ii) English
iii) Physical Science
iv) Bio-Science
4. Key Responsibilities:
· Academic Delivery
- Live Online Teaching: Conduct high-energy, engaging online classes for students of Classes V to X via digital platforms (e.g., Google Meet). Teach the assigned subject (Mathematics / English / Physical Science / Life Science) in an engaging and student-friendly manner.
- Develop lesson plans, presentations, worksheets, assignments, and assessment materials.
- Ensure syllabus coverage in accordance with West Bengal Board requirements.
- Flexible Shift Delivery:
Deliver classes during the designated operational hours:
- Morning Session: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM (Classes V to VII)
- Evening Session: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Classes VIII to X)
- During both the sessions, subject teacher shall be willing to be present online in his/her off period to oversee the smooth functioning of other teacher’s classes.
- However, Subject teacher shall agree and be obliged to adapt themselves to any changed session time both in the morning and evening as and when required.
· Content Development
o Create high-quality digital learning content, lesson plan, study materials, practice exercises, question banks, and revision materials.
o Research innovative teaching methods and educational resources suitable for rural students.
o Develop interactive learning modules using online tools and multimedia resources.
· Student Retention & Motivation:
Monitor student attendance, track academic progress, and actively implement strategies to keep rural students motivated and engaged. Assist in identifying learning gaps and designing remedial support.
· Field Visits & Workshops:
Travel occasionally to our remote digital centres across West Bengal to conduct offline physical classes, hands-on workshops, and build a strong personal rapport with the students and local center coordinators.
· Coordination & Administration
o Coordinate with the Central Program Coordinator and local centre coordinators.
o Participate in teacher meetings, planning sessions, and training programs.
o Maintain records of classes, attendance, assessments, and academic progress.
5. Required Qualifications & Experience
- Academic Background: Bachelor’s Degree with Honours and/or a Master’s Degree in the relevant subject (Mathematics / English / Physics / Chemistry / Biology).
- Experience: Proven active teaching experience specifically aligning with the West Bengal Board (WBBSE) syllabus for middle and high school levels.
- Technical Proficiency: Fluent in operating laptops, web cameras, microphones, and online teaching tools (Google Meet, digital whiteboards, etc.).
- Language: Complete fluency in Bengali (as it is the medium of instruction) and working knowledge of English.
As the mode of teaching is online and from home, candidate is expected to have proper online teaching setup at home with laptop, broadband internet connectivity, white board, digital pad and a noise free environment.

- Reliability: Strict adherence to the academic roster and class schedules to ensure zero disruption for the students.
7. Work Timing & Location
- Work Structure: 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday), 6 to 8 hours per day.
- Location: Primarily Work From Home (WFH), with the flexibility to split hours (minimum 2 hours in the morning session and 2 hours in the evening session).
- Travel: Must be open to travelling to rural school centers in West Bengal on Sundays and holidays and to the central office in Kolkata, as and when required.
8. What We Offer
· Remuneration :
A consolidated payment of Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 12,000/- per month, depending upon qualifications, experiences and other relevant criteria.
However, for extremely excellent candidates, upward enhancement of consolidated pay may be considered.
