About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educator to join our team. In this role, you will design and deliver individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborate closely with families, general education teachers, and support staff. The ideal candidate is patient, adaptable, and committed to helping every student reach their fullest potential.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and regularly review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students.
Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities in academic, behavioral, and life-skills areas, using specialized teaching strategies.
Adapt curriculum, materials, and assessments to meet the diverse needs of students with learning, developmental, physical, or emotional disabilities.
Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and adjust instructional approaches as needed.
Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching in mainstream classrooms.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and IEP meetings.
Coordinate with related service providers (speech therapists, occupational therapists, school psychologists, etc.) to deliver comprehensive support.
Manage classroom behavior using positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS).
Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with IDEA, state, and district special education regulations.
Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, and annual reviews.
Supervise and direct paraprofessionals or instructional aides as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's preferred for some positions).
Valid state teaching license/certification in Special Education.
Knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, and special education law and compliance requirements.
Experience working with students with diverse disabilities (learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, etc.).
Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff.
Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt materials to varying ability levels.
