Position Summary:
Milacron is looking for a Software Leader to join our team in Ahmedabad, India. In this position, you will be responsible for leading India Software organization (Production & Development) and Support global Controls group.
Work You’ll Do:
- Own the software architecture and roadmap for machine control, HMI, and connected-equipment platforms across Milacron's product lines globally.
- Set technical standards for code quality, testing, security, and documentation across the India software organization in alignment with global controls strategy.
- Drive modernization initiatives — e.g., migration to updated control platforms, cloud/IIoT connectivity, and data-driven machine intelligence features.
- Review and guide system architecture decisions for embedded (PLC/motion control/real-time) and application-layer software.
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of software engineers, firmware developers, and QA engineers in India.
- Establish and manage hiring plans, career development paths, and performance management for the team.
- Foster a culture of ownership, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the India software team within Milacron's global engineering organization to continue to standardize controls and software.
- Partner with Product Management and Global Engineering to translate product requirements into software deliverables.
- Own software delivery timelines, working within Agile/Scrum or hybrid development frameworks suited to industrial hardware-software integration.
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships as needed for specialized software components.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC 61508/61131, cybersecurity standards, Safety,such as IEC 62443) where applicable to machine software.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls hardware engineering teams to ensure tight integration between software and machine hardware.
- Collaborate with global counterparts (US/Europe) across time zones to align architecture, priorities, and release plans.
- Support customer-facing teams (service, applications engineering) with troubleshooting escalations and field issue resolution.
- Support and work closely with Validation group for new releases, production and NPD activities.
- Obtain and maintain country specific applicable machine/product safety certifications and upcoming new EU machine regulation (CE) and EU cyber resiliend act (CRA).
- Work closely with US on NFPA/UL and other standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 15-20 + years of engineering experience, with at least 12 years in a people leadership or engineering management role.
- Strong background in one or more of: embedded systems, real-time/industrial control software, HMI development, or industrial IoT.
- Experience with languages such as C/C++, C#, or Python; familiarity with PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text) is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience managing distributed/global engineering teams, ideally within a manufacturing, industrial equipment, or automation company.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively across global, cross-cultural teams and time zones.
