Heavenly Angels Children’s Home is an orphanage run by the Trust, dedicated to providing a loving, family-like environment for homeless and abandoned children. Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychological Counsellor to support the emotional, mental, and behavioral well-being of children residing at Heavenly Angels Children’s Home. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, patient, and committed to providing professional counselling services, emotional guidance, and psychological support to help children develop confidence, resilience, and healthy coping skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct intake interviews and mental health screenings of children
- Identify issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, anger, self-harm risk, and behavioural problems of children.
- Provide individual counselling to children.
- Provide group therapy & sessions for the children.
- Develop and update goals regarding general wellbeing, safety plans, and rehabilitation goals
- Manage crisis situations such as suicidal thoughts, self-harm, aggression, panic, grief, or emotional breakdowns
- Ensure the environment in the cci, is in compliance for the children’s mental & emotional well-being, focusing on holistic care.
- Maintain detailed notes, case records, and reports in line with ethical and institutional standard.
- Coordinate with staff, doctors, social workers, caseworkers, and legal or administrative teams when needed.
- Support reformation, reintegration, and reduction of repeat offending through coping-skills work and behaviour change interventions
- Ensure psychoeducation on topics such as anger, stress management; emotional regulation; trauma &coping with it; depression and anxiety awareness.
- Sessions on skill building like problem solving; effective communication; self-awareness; healthy relationships and boundaries.
- Conduct pre-release preparation before restoration.
- Receive referrals from the person -in-charge for the children who require constant counselling session.
- The counsellor should plan goal oriented with each child once in every week.
- The counsellor shall provide the inputs on each child’s being counselled during the monthly Management Committee meeting.
