A Medical Transcriptionist / Medical Typist (MT) for Discharge Summaries prepares, types, and finalizes accurate patient discharge records based on doctor notes, audio dictations, or electronic health systems.Key Responsibilities
- Type and Format: Prepare clear computerized discharge summaries following hospital guidelines.
- Review Information: Verify patient details, diagnoses, treatments, lab tests, and discharge medications.
- Clarify Discrepancies: Coordinate with doctors and nurses to fix missing facts or unclear handwritten notes.
- Meet Deadlines: Complete and upload records quickly to support safe patient discharges.
- Maintain Privacy: Keep all medical files secure under healthcare confidentiality laws.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High school diploma; training or certification in medical transcription is preferred.
- Medical Knowledge: Strong grasp of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
- Typing Speed: Fast and accurate typing, usually 50 to 70 words per minute.
- Software Skills: Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Microsoft Office.
