Key Responsibilities of a Site Store Person
A Site Store Person / Storekeeper is responsible for proper receipt, storage, issue, and record-keeping of all materials, tools, equipment, and consumables at the construction site.
1. Material Receiving
- Receive construction materials delivered to the site.
- Verify quantity, specifications, and condition against the Purchase Order, Delivery Challan, and Material Requisition.
- Check for shortages, damages, or incorrect materials and immediately report discrepancies.
- Coordinate with the Site Engineer, Purchase Department, and QA/QC team during material receipt.
2. Material Storage & Preservation
- Store materials systematically in designated areas.
- Ensure proper stacking and identification of materials.
- Maintain separate storage for cement, steel, electrical items, hardware, chemicals, tools, etc.
- Follow FIFO/FEFO wherever applicable.
- Protect materials from rain, moisture, theft, damage, and deterioration.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and safe access within the store.
3. Material Issue
- Issue materials only against an approved Material Requisition / Issue Slip.
- Maintain records of material issued to different departments, sites, subcontractors, or workers.
- Verify the quantity before issuing materials.
- Obtain signatures/acknowledgement from the person receiving the material.
4. Inventory Management
- Maintain daily stock records for all materials.
- Maintain Stock Register / Bin Cards / Inventory Register.
- Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels.
- Inform the Site Engineer/Purchase Department when stock is reaching the reorder level.
- Identify slow-moving, excess, damaged, and obsolete materials.
5. Tools & Equipment Control
- Maintain records of tools and equipment issued to employees and workers.
- Track return of tools and equipment.
- Report lost, damaged, or misused company property.
- Maintain a separate Tool Issue & Return Register.
6. Documentation & Records
Maintain proper records such as:
- Material Inward Register
- Material Issue Register
- Stock Register
- Material Requisition Forms
- Delivery Challans
- Purchase Orders
- Gate Entry Records
- Tool Issue & Return Register
- Material Return Register
- Damaged/Rejected Material Register
- Scrap Register
- Monthly Stock Statement
7. Stock Verification
- Conduct regular physical stock verification.
- Reconcile physical stock with book/system stock.
- Report shortages, excess stock, or discrepancies to management.
- Assist in monthly/periodic inventory audits.
8. Coordination
- Coordinate with Site Engineer, Project Manager, Purchase, Accounts, QA/QC, Safety and subcontractors.
- Ensure materials are available as per project requirements.
- Follow up on pending material deliveries.
9. Safety & Security
- Ensure store materials are stored safely and securely.
- Follow site safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Restrict unauthorized access to the store.
- Maintain proper fire safety arrangements.
- Ensure hazardous/chemical materials are stored according to safety requirements.
10. Housekeeping
- Keep the store clean, organized, and properly labelled.
- Ensure materials are stored according to category and usage.
- Remove unnecessary packaging, scrap, and waste regularly.
- Maintain clear pathways and emergency access.
11. Material Reconciliation
- Assist the Site Engineer/QS/Project Manager in reconciliation of major materials such as:
- Cement
- Steel
- Sand
- Aggregates
- Bricks/blocks
- Pipes
- Electrical materials
- Plumbing materials
- Construction chemicals
12. Reporting
Prepare and submit:
- Daily material inward/outward report
- Daily/weekly stock report
- Monthly inventory statement
- Shortage/excess material report
- Damaged/rejected material report
- Material consumption report
- Tool and equipment status report
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹24,000.00 per month
