Shift Requirements
- Monday–Friday: Market open hours
- Rotating weekend: On-call batch / incident support
- Occasional weekend work: Limited project / implementation activities as needed
Key Responsibilities
Batch Monitoring & Incident Management
- Monitor automated batch job streams in an enterprise job scheduler (e.g., CA Autosys or similar), maintaining heightened sensitivity to all alerts, delays, and abnormal conditions.
- Own the processing cycle during assigned shifts, ensuring jobs start, run, and complete within defined SLAs and market timelines.
- Proactively identify, investigate, and drive resolution of job failures, abends, transmission issues, and connectivity-related problems.
- Escalate incidents to appropriate application, infrastructure, and vendor support teams with clear, concise context and required urgency.
- Lead or actively participate in incident bridges, contributing to triage, impact assessment, and root cause analysis (RCA) for batch-related events.
- Provide accurate, timely status updates during high-pressure periods (e.g., SOD, intraday cycles, EOD, month-end, quarter-end).
Job Scheduling & Change Management
- Add, modify, or remove jobs within the batch stream based on approved requests from operations, client service, and project teams.
- Work closely with internal teams to correctly sequence new jobs and dependencies as part of new batch onboarding and JIL/build work.
- Support key initiatives such as disaster recovery tests, client/vendor testing, and other controlled non-production and production events.
- Adhere to all change, compliance, and approval standards, ensuring that environmental changes follow documented procedures and corporate policies.
Operational Support & Client/Vendor Interaction
- Intake, prioritize, and organize intraday requests for daily and weekend processing via the ticketing system.
- Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and vendors via email and phone regarding file receipt, report delivery, and other batch-dependent outputs.
- Use enterprise monitoring tools to track the health of applications, systems, and storage involved in the batch ecosystem, and act on early warning indicators.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Perform detailed research and analysis of job failures and anomalies, documenting findings, impacts, and corrective actions.
- Create and maintain procedural documentation for batch processes, transmissions, contact lists, and operational runbooks.
- Document incident records, including analysis, remediation steps, and preventive recommendations; produce clear shift turnover reports, problem logs, and other operational records.
- Contribute feedback and ideas to continuously improve batch stability, observability, and supportability.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Experience with enterprise job scheduling / automation tools (e.g., CA Autosys or similar), including job dependencies, calendars, and event handling.
- Familiarity with file transfer and back-office processing (e.g., SFTP, NDM) and associated controls (naming, timeliness, completeness).
- Fundamental understanding of:
- Operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Linux, Unix
- Storage concepts: NAS and general storage terminology
- Networking and protocols: TCP, SSH, SFTP, HTTPS, and related connectivity concepts
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and alerting tools for applications and infrastructure.
Industry & Domain
- Familiarity with wealth management or broader financial services terminology, workflows, and operational cycles is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of the criticality of market-driven timelines, cutoffs, and regulatory expectations around data accuracy and availability.
Behavioral & Soft Skills
- Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple concurrent incidents and requests in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong sense of urgency, ownership, and follow-through to drive issues to resolution within SLA.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences, including clients and external partners.
- Team-oriented, “must-get-it-done” attitude, especially during peak processing periods such as month-end and quarter-end.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to distinguish symptoms from root causes and document findings clearly.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years of professional experience in batch operations, production support, or a related function—preferably within the wealth management or financial services industry.
