Job Title: Heavy Truck Mechanic
Role Purpose:
The Heavy Truck Mechanic will be responsible for the hands-on repair, maintenance, and breakdown support of heavy-duty trucks operating across Gabon. This role requires strong mechanical skills, the ability to handle field breakdowns, and good English communication to interact with management and local teams. The mechanic must be comfortable working in the field, on highways, and in remote locations, often under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Truck Repair & Maintenance:
- Perform daily, preventive, and corrective maintenance on heavy-duty trucks (including tippers).
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in engines, braking systems, suspension, axles, gearboxes, and fuel systems.
- Ensure trucks are roadworthy and safe, suitable for African road conditions.
- Field Breakdown Support:
- Respond to breakdown calls quickly and restore vehicle operations with minimal downtime.
- Handle roadside repairs, including temporary fixes and arrange major repairs when needed.
- Diagnose root causes of common issues such as brake wear, suspension fatigue, axle stress, and overloading damage.
- Fleet & Workshop Coordination:
- Work closely with drivers to understand vehicle behavior and recurring issues.
- Coordinate with local workshops and spare parts suppliers as needed.
- Maintain repair, parts usage, and maintenance records.
- Advise management on preventative measures to reduce breakdowns and associated costs.
- Truck Knowledge:
- Experience working on tippers and heavy-duty trucks (6x4 / 8x4).
- Experience with Shacman trucks is a plus.
- Knowledge of load limits, fuel consumption, and wear and tear on African roads.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on mechanical experience with heavy-duty trucks.
- Direct experience repairing tippers and long-haul or site-based trucks, including real breakdown situations.
- Education:
- Diploma or ITI/Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics.
- Language & Communication:
- Good English proficiency (required for communication with management, understanding instructions, and reporting issues).
- Basic French is a plus but not mandatory.
Industry Expectations (Non-Negotiable):
- Strong practical mechanical skills with hands-on repair experience.
- Ability to work in challenging field conditions (on highways and in remote locations).
- Must be able to handle pressure and emergency breakdowns.

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
