Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented ITI Machinist Apprentice to join our manufacturing and production team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in set-up, operation, and maintenance of various manual and CNC machine tools. You will work closely with senior machinists and engineers to produce high-precision mechanical components according to technical drawings and engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Learn to set up and operate manual machines (Lathe, Milling, Drilling, Grinding) and CNC/VMC machinery under supervision.
- Component Machining: Perform precision cutting, shaping, turning, and finishing operations on raw materials (metal/non-metal parts) per blueprints.
- Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, engineering blueprints, and process sheets to determine machining parameters and tolerances.
- Quality & Measurement: Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height gauges.
- Maintenance & Setup: Assist in routine machine maintenance, tool changing, fixture setting, and keeping work areas clean and compliant with shop floor safety protocols.
- Documentation: Maintain daily work logs, job route cards, and production records accurately.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: ITI Passout in Machinist or Turner trade from a recognized NCVT/SCVT institute.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, metal properties, and measuring instruments.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read basic 2D engineering drawings and drafting symbols.
- Physical Fitness: Good hand-eye coordination, physical stamina to work in a shop floor environment, and attention to detail.
- Work Ethic: Punctual, eager to learn CAM/CNC operations, and compliant with industrial safety regulations.
