To facilitate high-quality learning in Computer Science within the IB framework by developing students’ computational thinking, programming, problem-solving, digital literacy, and inquiry skills. The facilitator will create an engaging, student-centred learning environment aligned with IB philosophy, learner profile attributes, and relevant IB Computer Science curriculum requirements.
III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES
- Plan and deliver engaging Computer Science lessons aligned with IB curriculum frameworks and school academic standards.
- Facilitate inquiry-based, concept-driven and collaborative learning experiences.
- Teach programming, computational thinking, algorithms, data structures, systems, networks and emerging technologies as appropriate to the IB programme.
- Integrate practical coding, projects, research and real-world applications into classroom learning.
- Develop differentiated learning strategies to meet diverse student needs and learning styles.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and provide constructive feedback.
- Guide students in projects, investigations and internal assessment work in accordance with IB requirements.
- Maintain accurate academic records, assessment data and student progress reports.
- Integrate ATL skills, academic integrity, digital citizenship and responsible use of technology.
- Collaborate with teachers and coordinators for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning.
- Participate in department meetings, professional development, curriculum planning and school events.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents and academic leadership regarding student progress.
IV. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Applications or a related discipline.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
- IB Computer Science teaching experience preferred.
- Strong programming and computational thinking skills.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, SQL or equivalent.
- Strong communication, classroom management and technology integration skills.
- Knowledge of IB philosophy, assessment practices and inquiry-based learning will be an advantage.
