Position: Head of Department (HOD) – Computer Science & Engineering
Reports To: Director / Principal
Position Summary
The Head of the Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Department is responsible for providing academic, administrative, and strategic leadership to the department. The role ensures excellence in teaching, research, student outcomes, accreditation compliance, faculty development, and industry collaboration while aligning departmental objectives with institutional goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership
- Develop and implement academic plans in alignment with AICTE/UGC/University norms.
- Ensure effective curriculum delivery and continuous improvement.
- Monitor academic performance, result analysis, and student progression.
- Encourage innovative teaching methodologies and outcome-based education (OBE).
- Supervise preparation of lesson plans, course files, and academic documentation.
2. Faculty Management
- Lead recruitment, mentoring, and performance appraisal of faculty members.
- Allocate teaching workload and academic responsibilities.
- Promote research, publications, patents, FDP participation, and consultancy.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings and performance reviews.
3. Research & Development
- Promote research culture within the department.
- Encourage funded projects, industry-sponsored research, and collaborations.
- Facilitate paper publications in reputed journals and conferences.
- Guide faculty and students in research initiatives and innovation projects.
4. Student Development
- Monitor attendance, discipline, mentoring, and grievance handling.
- Promote student participation in coding competitions, hackathons, and technical events.
- Coordinate placement readiness programs and skill development initiatives.
- Guide final-year projects and internships in collaboration with industry.
5. Accreditation & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with AICTE, NAAC, NBA, and University regulations.
- Maintain departmental records and documentation for audits.
- Lead preparation for accreditation visits and quality assurance processes.
6. Industry & Institutional Collaboration
- Establish MoUs with IT companies and industry partners.
- Organize guest lectures, workshops, and industrial visits.
- Strengthen placement support and industry engagement.
7. Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare departmental budget and monitor resource utilization.
- Ensure effective lab management and infrastructure development.
- Coordinate timetable preparation and examination processes.
- Submit periodic reports to management and academic council.

Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering (Preferred)
- M.Tech / ME in CSE with strong academic record
- Minimum 10–15 years of teaching experience, with leadership exposure
- Experience in accreditation processes (NBA/NAAC) preferred
