Position: Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Science
Department: Middle & Secondary School (Classes VI–X)
Reports To: Principal / Vice Principal / HOD Science
Job Summary
A TGT Science teacher is responsible for teaching General Science to middle and secondary school students as per CBSE/ICSE/State Board curriculum. The role includes teaching concepts of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at the secondary level, developing scientific thinking, and strengthening students’ understanding through theory and practical activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Science to Classes VI–X:
- Physics basics (motion, force, energy, light, electricity)
- Chemistry basics (matter, atoms, reactions, acids & bases)
- Biology basics (cells, human body, plants, ecosystems)
- Prepare lesson plans, worksheets, assignments, and question papers.
- Conduct classroom teaching using experiments, models, and demonstrations.
- Organize and supervise science lab activities (where applicable).
- Evaluate tests, projects, practical work, and notebooks regularly.
- Develop scientific thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving skills among students.
- Provide remedial teaching and support for weak learners.
- Use smart boards, simulations, videos, and digital tools for teaching.
- Maintain classroom discipline and ensure safe learning practices.
- Participate in PTMs, science exhibitions, school events, and academic meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science (B.Sc.) in relevant subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) or General Science.
- B.Ed. from a recognized university (mandatory in most schools).
- CTET/TET (Paper II) preferred.
- Strong conceptual understanding of science subjects.
Experience
- Fresher or 1–5 years of teaching experience preferred.
- Experience teaching CBSE/ICSE middle and secondary classes is an advantage.
