Key Responsibilities
- Menu Execution: Prepare and cook diverse continental dishes—including salads, sandwiches, pasta, soups, and main courses—strictly following recipes and plating standards.
- Quality Control: Ensure food consistency, taste, and presentation to meet cafe standards, including proper seasoning and portioning.
- Kitchen Operations: Oversee daily kitchen tasks, including setting up workstations, managing equipment, and ensuring efficient workflow during busy hours.
- Inventory & Cost Management: Monitor stock levels, order, and receive fresh, high-quality ingredients while minimizing waste to control food costs.
- Hygiene & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workspace, adhering to all food safety and health regulations.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and support junior kitchen staff (commis/helpers) in daily operations and culinary techniques.
Qualifications
- Experience: 1–5+ years in a professional kitchen specializing in continental cuisine (experience in a fast-paced cafe setting is highly valued).
- Skills: Strong knowledge of, and passion for, Continental cooking techniques, sauces, and ingredients.
- Education: A diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or Hotel Management is preferred but not always required if experience is sufficient.
- Capabilities: Excellent time management, ability to work under pressure, and good communication skills.
