Founder’s Office - Creative Head, Children’s Book Publishing
Do you love children’s books? Do you want to be involved in creating them from the very beginning?
Zhagaram is a growing Tamil children’s publishing house creating original, joyful and beautifully made books for young readers.
We’re looking for someone to work closely with the founder and take ownership of our book-making process — from discovering stories and authors to developing books, working with illustrators, getting them printed, and eventually putting them in the hands of children.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is genuinely excited by children’s literature, storytelling and the creative process. You’ll have the freedom to shape what we publish and how we bring our books to life.
What you’ll do
- Discover and build relationships with authors and identify promising new book ideas.
- Work closely with authors to develop stories and book concepts.
- Collaborate with illustrators and guide books through the creative process.
- Coordinate with printers and production partners to take books from artwork to finished copies, while keeping projects on schedule.
- Think about what makes a great Zhagaram book - the idea, story, illustrations, format and overall experience.
- Help build the world around our books through social media, content, campaigns and collaborations with creators and influencers.
- Work directly with the founder on new books, creative projects and initiatives for Zhagaram.
Who we’re looking for
More than a specific qualification or number of years of experience, we’re looking for someone who genuinely loves stories and children’s books and wants to build them.
You might come from publishing, editorial, writing, design, advertising, media or another creative field. What matters is that you have strong creative instincts, take initiative, communicate well, and enjoy taking an idea and making it real.
This role comes with a lot of ownership. You won’t simply be executing someone else’s publishing plan - you’ll help shape what Zhagaram publishes and how we grow.
