Job Summary
The Teaching Assistant (Law) supports faculty members in delivering high-quality legal education by assisting with teaching, research, academic administration, and student engagement. The role involves preparing course materials, conducting tutorials, evaluating assignments, supporting legal research, and ensuring smooth coordination of academic activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist faculty members in preparing lecture notes, presentations, case materials, and academic content.
- Conduct tutorials, discussion sessions, and doubt-clearing classes for students.
- Assist in grading assignments, quizzes, research papers, and examinations in accordance with institutional guidelines.
- Provide constructive academic feedback to students.
- Support faculty in legal research, drafting, citation checking, and preparation of research publications.
- Maintain course records, attendance, assessment data, and academic documentation.
- Coordinate classroom activities, seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and moot court events.
- Guide students on legal databases, research methodologies, and citation standards.
- Monitor student progress and communicate academic concerns to faculty members.
- Assist in curriculum development and preparation of teaching resources.
- Perform other academic and administrative responsibilities assigned by the department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) (Mandatory)
- LL.M. from a recognized university (Preferred)
- NET/JRF qualification (Preferred, if applicable)
- Strong academic record in law.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent understanding of core legal subjects and contemporary legal developments.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
- Proficiency in legal databases such as SCC Online, Manupatra, HeinOnline, LexisNexis, or Westlaw.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online learning platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students.
Preferred Experience
- 0–2 years of teaching, research, or legal practice experience.
- Experience in academic writing, moot courts, publications, or research projects is an added advantage.
Compensation
Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and institutional policies.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
