Job Title : Quality Assurance Manager
Work Location: Thanjavur
Tasks / Roles and Responsibilities
1. Quality Management System:
· Manage and maintain QMS aligned with IMS and global standards.
· Conduct and lead internal and external audits (ISO, customer, third-party).
· Drive corrective and preventive actions for all non-conformances.
2. QA/QC:
· Supervise Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams.
· Ensure welding and fabrication adhere to ISO 3834-2 & EN 1090-2.
· Validate WPS/PQRs and oversee welder qualifications and certifications.
· Developing and implementing quality standards and systems.
· Monitoring and analysing quality performance.
· Ensuring that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations.
· Investigating and troubleshooting production issues.
· Monitoring and ensuring the machine process and its requirements.
3. Inspection and Testing:
· Implement and monitor inspection methods (VT, UT, RT, MPI, etc.).
· Approve quality reports, inspection documents, and third-party certifications.
· Resolve quality deviations and track trends for preventive improvements.
4. Team Leadership:
· Lead a skilled team of quality engineers and inspectors (minimum 3–5 years of team leadership experience required).
· Promote a quality-first culture across all departments.
· Conduct training programs for welding, quality, and safety protocols.
5. Supplier Quality & Customer Satisfaction:
· Handle customer quality feedback, implement CAPA, and maintain satisfaction.
· Ensure compliance with customer technical specifications.
6. Continuous Improvement:
· Drive quality improvement initiatives.
· Use KPIs to monitor performance and identify enhancement opportunities.
· Integrate ERP/QMS software for documentation and tracking.
7. Health & Safety
· Ensure adherence to OSHA standards, statutory HSE rules.
· Conduct safety inductions, tool-box talks, risk assessments (HIRA/JSA).
· Investigate incidents/accidents and report with corrective actions.
· Promote 5S, safety culture, and behavioral safety practices.
Job requirements (education, experience, additional qualifications)
Education:
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory), Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
· In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with ISO 3834-2 and EN 1090-2, welding and fabrication standards.
· Strong expertise in welding processes, including various welding techniques such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW, and others, with proven experience in welding procedure specification (WPS) and welder qualification procedures.
· Proven ability to lead audits, internal and external, and manage customer expectations for quality assurance.
· Machining knowledge required
Experience:
· 10 to 15 years in a Heavy Engineering Fabrication environment.
· Minimum 3-4 years of experience in a senior quality leadership role.
Mandatory Skills:
· Strong experience in QA/QC of heavy fabrication projects.
· Expertise in welding standards (ISO 3834-2, EN 1090-2).
· Certified Internal Auditor and Lead Auditor.
· Well-versed in WPS, PQR, and NDT techniques.
· Machining knowledge is Mandatory.
Preferred Skills:
· AWS CWI / CSWIP / ISO Lead Auditor certifications.
· Familiar with ERP and digital QMS tools.
· Strong leadership, documentation, and communication skills.
· Good understanding of national and international safety & quality standards
