About Aasraa Trust
Aasraa Trust was established in 2009 to work with society’s most underprivileged and vulnerable children from the streets and slums of Dehradun. Aasraa is not just a charity but a vehicle for empowerment through education, skills training, and nutrition, healthcare and shelter homes. Starting with street level mobilization, Aasraa uses a multi-faced approach that prepares children for mainstream education and transition to higher studies and skills training.
Aasraa is certified by National Institute of Open Schooling and works with the education department of Uttarakhand to improve the quality of education at 9-government school in Dehradun. Aasraa is also implementing a Girl Education Program in four girls Inter Collages in Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. Aasraa has built shelters for orphaned, abandoned, abused and special needs children.
Aasraa started 15 years ago with 35 children and it now supports over 11000 children from the streets and slums across 80 projects in Dehradun district.
Purpose of the Job – The Merchandiser will be responsible for managing end-to-end merchandising operations, including production coordination, material sourcing, quality control, order handling and market expansion. Additionally, the candidate will play a crucial role in developing and evolving new product lines to enhance market appeal and diversify the offerings of the stitching centre.

The role also requires close collaboration with designers, artisans, and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality, market-driven products.

Job Description – Merchandiser – Production Unit (Stitching Center)
Reports To: COO / Program Manager
Key Responsibilities
1. Merchandising & Production Coordination:
· Handle end-to-end order processing, from inquiry to final delivery.
· Coordinate with tailors, artisans, and production teams to ensure timely execution of orders.
· Maintain detailed production schedules, tracking progress and addressing delays.
· Work closely with designers to ensure product alignment with client specifications and market trends.
2. Vendor & Supply Chain Management:
· Identify and maintain relationships with fabric suppliers, trim vendors, and raw material providers.
· Negotiate pricing and procurement contracts for cost-effective sourcing.
· Ensure timely availability of materials for smooth production workflow.
3. Quality Control & Assurance:
· Develop and implement quality standards for fabric, stitching, and finishing.
· Conduct regular inspections to maintain high production quality.
· Address defects or production issues proactively to minimize wastage and rework.
4. Sales, Marketing & Business Development:
· Identify potential buyers, NGOs, boutiques, and retail outlets for collaboration.
· Develop product catalogues, pricing sheets, and promotional materials.
· Explore online platforms and exhibitions for increasing sales and brand visibility.
5. Training & Capacity Building:
· Conduct training sessions for stitching unit workers on quality improvement, production efficiency, and skill enhancement.
· Work with artisans to develop new designs and innovative product lines.
Note: Additional smaller coordination-related tasks may arise based on the Trust’s requirements.
Education and Experience requirements
Education Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or a related field.
Core experience
· 3–5 years of experience in textile merchandising, garment production, or supply chain management.
Preferable Knowledge/Experience
· Strong understanding of fabric types, garment production processes, and sustainable fashion. Experience in working with NGOs, fair trade initiatives, or marginalized communities is a plus.
Competencies Required
· Technical competencies: Proficiency in MS Excel, inventory management tools, and basic design software (preferred).
- Behavioral competencies: : Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
