Role Overview
Design, develop, and scale secure, high-performance web applications that power next-generation maritime learning and assessment systems, delivering seamless end-to-end digital experiences. Working alongside the Co-Founders and AI/Prompt Engineer, you will translate complex maritime training requirements into a robust, scalable, and user-friendly digital product.

Key Responsibilities
- Architect and develop the Maritime AI web platform from the ground up, encompassing the learner-facing exam interface, institutional administrator dashboard, and performance analytics reporting.
- Integrate AI APIs to power automated answer evaluation, dynamic question generation, and personalised feedback delivery to learners.
- Design and manage the data layer using Supabase or Firebase as the backend-as-a-service platform.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, data security, and the ability to grow with the customer base.
- Build and document RESTful APIs to serve both web and mobile front-ends, ensuring clean interfaces and robust error handling.
- Partner with the AI/Prompt Engineer to design and integrate AI evaluation pipelines that meet the accuracy and consistency standards required for professional competency assessment.
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices including code reviews, Git branching strategies, sprint-based delivery, and thorough technical documentation.
- Contribute to product strategy and technical scoping discussions as a senior voice in the founding team, helping to balance ambition with delivery.
- Support pilot customer onboarding by ensuring platform stability, intuitive UX, and clear guidance for non-technical institution administrators.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline
- Minimum 4 years of commercial full-stack development experience, with at least 2 years in a product-focused startup or scale-up environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in React.js/Next.js/Angualr for frontend development and Node.js/Python/Java/.NET for backend services
- Hands-on experience integrating third-party APIs including REST and webhook-based services
- Proven experience with at least one major cloud platform — AWS (preferred), Google Cloud, or Azure — including deployment, environment management, and basic DevOps workflows
- Strong Git and GitHub proficiency including branching strategies, pull request workflows, and code review practices
- Experience designing and managing relational or NoSQL databases for user-facing production applications
- Ability to manage priorities independently in a fast-moving environment and communicate proactively with remote co-founders
Strong written and spoken English for communication with international team members and customers
Desirable / Advantageous
- Prior experience integrating OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or similar large language model APIs into production applications
- Familiarity with React Native for cross-platform mobile development
- Hands-on experience with Supabase or Firebase as backend-as-a-service platforms
- Knowledge of EdTech, assessment platforms, or learning management systems
- Experience in startup environments where roles are broad and product direction evolves rapidly
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate or equivalent cloud certification
Awareness of data privacy regulations relevant to EdTech — including GDPR and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act
