Core Responsibilities
- Plan Analysis: Read and interpret construction blueprints, sketches, and building designs.
- Material Preparation: Measure, cut, shape, and smooth wood, drywall, and fiberglass.
- Structural Framing: Build frameworks including subfloors, walls, doors, windows, and roof trusses.
- Finish Carpentry: Install cabinets, countertops, molding, baseboards, and finish flooring.
- Maintenance & Repair: Inspect existing wooden structures to replace or fix damaged segments.
- Tool Operation: Safely utilize hand and power tools like circular saws, drills, and nail guns.
- Site Support: Erect temporary scaffolding, ladders, and protective framework systems.
- Code Compliance: Align all construction works with local building codes and safety laws.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Mastery: Strong knowledge of wood materials, architectural layout, and joinery techniques.
- Mathematical Proficiency: Ability to calculate precise dimensions, structural load angles, and material costs.
- Physical Fitness: High physical stamina, balance, and the ability to lift up to 40–50 pounds.
- Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination for precision work with heavy cutting machinery.
- Problem Solving: Aptitude for troubleshooting structural misalignments or unexpected site conditions.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent secondary school education.
- Training: Completion of a recognized formal carpentry apprenticeship program is highly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 to 4 years of proven field experience as a journey-level carpenter.
- Certification: Valid local construction induction card or trade-specific operating licenses.
Work Environment
- Active residential or commercial construction sites, workshops, and client homes.
- Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noises, and airborne sawdust dust.
- Tasks regularly require prolonged standing, bending, climbing ladders, and working at heights.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
