Senior Purchase – Purchase

Reports To: Purchase Manager
Job Purpose:
To manage procurement activities for raw materials, components, and services required in railway furnishing projects, ensuring timely availability, cost-effectiveness, quality compliance, and vendor relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Sourcing
- Identify, evaluate, and finalize suppliers for raw materials (e.g., rexine, foams, fabrics, metals, fittings, adhesives, etc.) and other project requirements.
- Obtain competitive quotations, negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Ensure purchases are aligned with quality standards and railway specifications.
Vendor Development & Management
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliability and quality.
- Conduct vendor audits, performance evaluations, and compliance checks.
- Explore new sources and alternative suppliers for cost savings and risk reduction.
Process & Compliance
- Handle purchase orders, contracts, and documentation as per company and statutory norms.
- Ensure compliance with Indian Railways standards, company policies, and audit requirements.
- Coordinate with Finance for timely vendor payments and reconciliation.
Coordination & Support
- Work closely with production, stores, and quality departments to understand material requirements and priorities.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure just-in-time procurement without delays in production.
- Assist in vendor meetings, tenders, and purchase-related negotiations.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare MIS reports on purchases, savings, vendor performance, and material consumption.
- Track market trends for key raw materials (steel, fabric, rexine, foam, etc.) and recommend cost-control measures.
- Highlight risks such as shortages, price hikes, or supply delays to management.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge
- Understanding of railway furnishing materials and specifications.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, vendor development, and contract management.
- Awareness of costing, taxation (GST, TDS), and logistics requirements.
Skills
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Good in MS Office, ERP/Purchase software.
- Analytical ability for cost comparison and vendor evaluation.
- Documentation and compliance management skills.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Graduate in Commerce / Supply Chain / Engineering.
- MBA/PGDM in Materials Management / Supply Chain preferred.
- 3–6 years of purchase/procurement experience in industrial/railway/automotive manufacturing sector.
- Exposure to railway contracts, specifications, and vendor ecosystem will be an added advantage.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
