We are looking for a responsible and experienced Canteen Manager in our hospital to oversee the day-to-day operations and overall management of the canteen. The candidate will be responsible for stock management, billing, accounts, fee collection, staff coordination, hygiene, and ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the canteen.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the overall day-to-day operations of the canteen.
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock of food items, beverages, groceries, and other supplies.
- Receive, check, and verify stock deliveries for quantity, quality, and condition.
- Maintain proper stock registers and inventory records and monitor wastage.
- Handle billing, cash collection, daily sales records, and basic accounting.
- Maintain accurate records of canteen income, expenses, purchases, and payments.
- Collect canteen fees/payments from students, staff, customers, or other concerned parties as applicable.
- Ensure timely deposit and proper handling of collected cash and payments.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manage purchase requirements and replenishment of stock.
- Supervise canteen staff and allocate duties to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure proper cleanliness, hygiene, food safety, and maintenance of the canteen premises.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, pricing, and customer service.
- Prepare regular sales, stock, expense, and account reports for management.
- Identify operational issues and take appropriate corrective action.
- Support and implement new or enhanced canteen services and activities as required by management.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and maintain discipline within the canteen.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the efficient and effective management of the canteen.
Requirements
- Previous experience in canteen, cafeteria, catering, food service, retail, or similar operations preferred.
- Good knowledge of stock management, billing, cash handling, and basic accounting.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to supervise staff and coordinate with suppliers.
- Honest, responsible, punctual, and reliable.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with billing/accounting software will be an advantage.
