An office caretaker ensures the workplace remains a clean, secure, and fully operational environment. Core responsibilities include routine facility maintenance, daily janitorial tasks, managing security, and restocking office supplies. This role minimizes disruptions, allowing employees to work in a safe and comfortable environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance: Perform minor repairs (e.g., fixing leaky faucets, changing light bulbs, assembling furniture) and coordinate with external contractors for major repairs.
- Cleaning & Sanitation: Maintain a hygienic workspace by cleaning common areas, restrooms, and break rooms. Manage trash disposal and recycling.
- Security & Access: Oversee the opening and closing of the office, manage keys or access cards, and monitor entry points to ensure building security.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock office supplies, pantry items, and cleaning materials.
- Safety Compliance: Conduct regular safety checks on fire alarms, emergency exits, and electrical systems to ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks.
- Basic DIY Skills: General proficiency with hand tools and basic mechanical or plumbing systems.
- Time Management: Capability to balance scheduled maintenance routines with urgent, ad-hoc tasks.
- Reliability: Trustworthiness, as the role frequently involves having after-hours access to the office.
