Job Summary
We are looking for a qualified and dedicated Microbiologist with at least 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory or hospital environment. The candidate will be responsible for performing microbiological investigations, processing clinical specimens, maintaining laboratory quality and safety standards, and supporting accurate and timely diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, label, process, and examine clinical specimens such as blood, urine, sputum, swabs, and other samples.
- Perform routine microbiological investigations using appropriate laboratory techniques.
- Conduct Gram staining, culture and sensitivity testing, microscopy, and biochemical tests as required.
- Identify bacterial and other clinically significant microorganisms.
- Perform antimicrobial susceptibility testing according to established laboratory procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of test results and ensure timely reporting.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), infection-control practices, and laboratory safety guidelines.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of clinical specimens and biomedical waste.
- Perform quality-control procedures and maintain laboratory equipment and reagents.
- Monitor reagent stocks and inform the concerned personnel when supplies need replenishment.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other laboratory staff regarding microbiology reports when required.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory results.
- Participate in internal quality assurance and laboratory accreditation activities.
- Keep the laboratory clean, organized, and compliant with applicable safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Microbiology or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a hospital or clinical diagnostic laboratory.
- Good knowledge of clinical microbiology and laboratory procedures.
- Practical experience in culture, staining, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Good documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Willingness to work in shifts, if required.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
