Position Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and student-focused Social Science Teacher for Classes VI to X. The ideal candidate should possess strong subject expertise across History, Geography, Civics (Political Science), and Economics, along with the ability to make learning engaging, relevant, and interactive. The teacher will be responsible for fostering critical thinking, global awareness, civic responsibility, and analytical skills among students while ensuring alignment with CBSE curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Responsibilities
· Teach Social Science subjects including History, Geography, Political Science (Civics), and Economics to Classes VI–X as per CBSE curriculum guidelines.
· Deliver engaging, inquiry-based, and interactive lessons that connect classroom learning to real-world events and societal issues.
· Develop lesson plans, assignments, worksheets, projects, case studies, and enrichment activities aligned with learning objectives.
· Encourage critical thinking, research skills, analytical reasoning, and informed decision-making.
· Promote awareness of national and global issues, democratic values, environmental sustainability, and responsible citizenship.
· Conduct remedial and enrichment classes to cater to diverse learning needs.
· Ensure timely completion of syllabus and curriculum requirements.
Subject-Specific Learning & Enrichment
History
· Develop students’ understanding of historical events, civilizations, movements, and cultural heritage.
· Encourage historical inquiry, source analysis, and interpretation of historical developments.
Geography
· Teach physical, political, environmental, and human geography concepts through maps, charts, and practical activities.
· Develop geographical awareness and understanding of environmental issues and sustainable development.
Political Science (Civics)
· Foster understanding of democratic institutions, constitutional values, governance systems, rights, duties, and citizenship.
· Encourage informed civic participation and awareness of contemporary issues.
Economics
· Introduce students to basic economic concepts, financial literacy, resource management, and economic decision-making.
· Develop awareness of economic systems and their impact on society.
Assessment & Evaluation
· Design and administer formative and summative assessments, assignments, projects, and examinations.
· Prepare competency-based, analytical, and application-oriented assessments aligned with CBSE guidelines.
· Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate academic records.
· Analyze assessment outcomes and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
· Provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
· Participate in result analysis and academic review meetings.
Classroom Management
· Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
· Encourage active participation, discussions, debates, group work, and collaborative learning.
· Foster respect for diverse perspectives, cultures, and viewpoints.
· Maintain classroom discipline in accordance with school policies.
Technology Integration
· Utilize Smart Boards, multimedia resources, digital maps, documentaries, presentations, and educational technology tools.
· Integrate technology into lesson planning, classroom instruction, assessments, and project-based learning.
· Support blended learning and digital literacy initiatives.
· Use digital platforms to track student progress and communicate academic updates.
Student Development
· Mentor students in developing critical thinking, research, communication, and presentation skills.
· Guide students in quizzes, debates, Model United Nations (MUNs), social science exhibitions, heritage projects, and awareness campaigns.
· Encourage participation in co-curricular and interdisciplinary learning activities.
· Conduct doubt-clearing sessions and provide individualized academic support.
· Foster leadership qualities, ethical values, and social responsibility.
Parent Communication
· Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and development.
· Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs), counseling sessions, and academic discussions.
· Provide recommendations and support strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
Administrative Responsibilities
· Maintain attendance records, assessment reports, project documentation, and academic records.
· Participate in curriculum planning, faculty meetings, workshops, and professional development programs.
· Support school events, examinations, field visits, educational tours, and institutional initiatives.
· Contribute to the development of study materials, question banks, worksheets, and teaching resources.
Required Qualifications
Educational Qualification
· Bachelor's Degree in History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Social Science, Humanities, or a related discipline.
· B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) is mandatory.
· Master's Degree in any Social Science subject will be preferred.
Experience
· Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in a CBSE school.
· Experience teaching Social Science to Classes VI–X.
· Experience in project-based learning, MUNs, debates, or social science exhibitions will be an added advantage.
