We are seeking an Android Engineer with 4+ years of experience to develop and maintain our Kitchen Display System (KDS) and display applications. You will build high-performance Android solutions that power real-time kitchen operations, including live order tracking, station routing, timers, and order status management. This role is essential to ensuring smooth restaurant execution through reliable, responsive, and scalable display systems.
Main responsibilities:
- Build the KDS app in Kotlin + Jetpack Compose for rugged Android tablets or display devices.
- Consume the local SignalR order stream to render live tickets, station routing, timers, item modifiers, ready status, and order bump/recall flows.
- Ensure KDS remains functional on the local network even when public internet is unavailable.
- Keep order-stream consumption modular so future customer-facing displays or drive-thru displays can reuse the same patterns.
- Support the Android lead on shared UI components, Room models, offline-state testing, and tablet compatibility.
Required tech: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, Room basics, Retrofit/OkHttp, SignalR Android client patterns, real-time/socket client patterns, Android tablet UI experience.
Why this role matters: KDS is critical to restaurant execution. Splitting KDS from cashier POS prevents one Android developer from owning too much and keeps delivery moving.
Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹900,000.00 per year
