Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for critically ill patients.
- Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and clinical condition.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other prescribed treatments safely.
- Operate and monitor critical care equipment including ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and syringe pumps.
- Assist doctors during emergency procedures, intubation, central line insertion, and other critical interventions.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation in patient records.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, infection prevention, and patient safety protocols.
- Follow medication administration guidelines and maintain proper documentation.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection control practices.
- Coordinate patient care with consultants, resident doctors, physiotherapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients' relatives regarding treatment plans, procedures, and post-ICU care.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures when required.
- Participate in shift handovers and maintain continuity of patient care.
- Ensure proper maintenance and readiness of ICU equipment and emergency crash carts.
- Report adverse events, medication errors, and clinical incidents as per hospital policy.
- Assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and code blue responses.
- Participate in departmental meetings, audits, training programs, and continuing nursing education.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical nursing practices.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing or GNM from a recognized institution.
- Valid Nursing Council Registration.
- BLS certification is mandatory.
- ACLS certification is preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of ICU experience preferred.
- Freshers with strong clinical knowledge may also apply.
