Job Summary
All responsibilities associated with Rocket Universe Database Administrator Provide expert support for production Application databases with respect to availability, reliability, and integrity for Rocket Universe Provide expert support for Applications databases in the development and test environments Work with Application developers and their logical data models, create physical Application database designs which conform to industry standards (e.g.,data normalization), optimize performance and efficiently utilize disk space, size tables and indexes for production implementation based on projected row counts provided by Applications Create complex new databases and Application database objects (eg, tables, indexes, procedures), and as requirements change, update data structures/objects in existing databases Coordinate production database deployment including tasks to promote database objects between environments (e.g.,test to production) in support of Application requirements Provide technical leadership to Application developers in database capabilities and features, build efficient queries, database design, Application database Problem Resolution, and the use of database utilities
Key Responsibilities
BA/BS in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education or experience, Master’s Degree preferred Five to seven years of experience in information technology, with at least four years of experience as a relational database administrator Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, object-oriented technology, data warehousing, and relational database engines Advanced proficiency in analytical, project planning, negotiating, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and oral) SQL database knowledge will be added advantage Oracle or DB2 knowledge will be added advantage

Provide technical leadership to Application developers in database capabilities and features, build efficient queries, database design, Application database Problem Resolution, and the use of database utilities \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nEvaluate Database Configurations and provide recommendations for improvement \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nDocument unsupported Database versions, where they are used, the Applications that use them and actively seek to either upgrade, retire, or migrate them to alternate platforms \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nPlan for table space utilization and develop migration plans to ensure data integrity prior to anticipated Technical Changes, expansions, or migrations to new or changed space allocation \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nImplement Database archive processes and procedures \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nPerform Database re-indexing, stored procedure rebuilds, Database defragmentation, and purging obsolete Database definitions and procedures \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nProvide activities including index rebuilds or reorgs, verification of integrity, Database shrinking, and statistics updating \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nPerform Database shutdowns and restarts as required \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nMonitor Database logging systems including Database lock errors and trouble shoot causes
