Job Description: Garment Merchandiser
We are seeking an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Garment Merchandiser to join our team on-site in Jalandhar. In this role, you will act as the vital bridge between our clients (brands/buyers) and the production floor. You will oversee the complete product lifecycle from initial sample development and costing to raw material sourcing, bulk production tracking, and final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Development & Sampling: Coordinate closely with design and pattern-making teams to develop initial product samples, counter-samples, and salesman samples based on buyer tech packs.
- Costing & Negotiation: Calculate precise garment consumption data and prepare competitive costing sheets. Negotiate pricing with raw material vendors, fabric mills, and accessory suppliers to maintain profitable margins.
- Sourcing & Trim Management: Source and approve fabrics, lab dips, threads, buttons, zippers, and labels according to strict buyer specifications.
- Production Tracking: Create and monitor a Time & Action (T&A) calendar for every order. Conduct daily follow-ups with the production floor, cutting, and washing departments to ensure zero factory delays.
- Quality & Compliance Assurance: Coordinate with internal Quality Assurance (QA) inspectors and external buying house auditors during pre-production, mid-line, and final inspections.
- Buyer Communication: Manage all day-to-day correspondence with buyers or buying agents, sending weekly production status reports and obtaining necessary approvals for trims and shipment documents.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 2 to 4 years of solid, proven experience as a merchandiser within a garment manufacturing unit or apparel buying house.
- Education: Graduate or Diploma in Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Production, Textile Technology, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: * Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric types, knits/wovens, and apparel production processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (for consumption tracking and costing sheets) and basic ERP/PLM software modules.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills in English and Hindi/Punjabi, sharp negotiation abilities, and strong multi-tasking capabilities under tight shipping deadlines.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per year
