MKK Metal Sections is a leading steel products manufacturer and integrated steel solution provider headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India with tow world-class manufacturing facilities in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu. The company was founded in 2008 and has since grown into one of South India’s largest and most trusted steel products producers.
With over a production capacity of 500,000 metric tons per year, the company has crossed a turnover of ₹1000cr in 2026 and is targeting a growth to 1500 Crs. in FY 2027. The company is preparing itself for an IPO. The company employs 720 employees at the corporate and plants and has sales offices in Mumbai, Bangalore.
MKK serves a wide spectrum of sectors including construction, transportation, energy, warehousing, and infrastructure. It is exporting Pipes and Tubes to various countries in Europe and to USA. The state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in Ranipet are equipped with multiple tube and cold-forming mills, as well as a high-capacity hot dip galvanising facility capable of processing long steel structures. Product offering includes,
· ERW steel pipes and tubes in circular, square, rectangular, hexagonal and octagonal sections
· Galvanised tubes, sections and structures with in-house galvanising capability
· Structural steel products such as purlins, shutters, colour-coated roofing sheets
· Solar module mounting structures and renewable energy support products
· Warehouse racking systems and pallet racks
· Metal crash barriers and other specialised cold-formed steel sections
1. Role Purpose
To lead and manage procurement operations with a primary focus on strategic sourcing and cost optimization of steel, while ensuring supply continuity, quality compliance, and strong supplier partnerships. The role is critical in driving the supply chain efficiency, cost leadership, risk mitigation, and procurement excellence in a commodity-driven environment. The Head will work closely with production and leadership teams to align sales growth with manufacturing capabilities.
2. Role Dimensions
1. Strategic Sourcing & Category Management (Steel Focus)
- Develop and execute steel sourcing strategy (HR, CR, plates, billets, alloys, etc.) aligned with business demand
- Track steel market trends, commodity cycles, and pricing indices to drive informed buying decisions
- Lead rate contracts, long-term agreements, and hedging strategies where applicable
- Identify alternate sources (domestic & international) to de-risk supply concentration
2. Cost Management & Value Optimization
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiation, volume leverage, and supplier consolidation
- Partner with engineering for value engineering, specification optimization, and make vs buy decisions
- Monitor and improve material cost variance vs budget/standard cost
- Implement should-cost models and benchmarking for steel procurement
3. Supplier Management & Development
- Develop and manage a robust supplier ecosystem for steel and critical inputs
- Drive supplier evaluation, capability assessment, and performance scorecards (quality, cost, delivery)
- Build strategic partnerships with key mills and distributors
- Lead supplier risk management (financial, geopolitical, capacity constraints)
4. Procurement Operations & Planning
- Ensure timely procurement aligned with production schedules and inventory norms
- Optimize inventory levels, lead times, and working capital
- Coordinate with planning, production, and logistics for seamless material flow
- Monitor OTIF (On-Time In-Full) deliveries and vendor adherence
5. Contracts & Compliance
- Lead commercial negotiations and contract finalization with suppliers
- Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory regulations, and audit requirements
- Manage contractual risks, price variation clauses, and dispute resolution
6. Digital & Process Excellence
- Strengthen procurement MIS, analytics, and reporting frameworks
- Implement best practices in procure-to-pay (P2P) processes and controls

- Supplier performance (quality, delivery, reliability)

3. Ideal Candidate Qualification
- B.E. or BTech with MBA or equivalent in Supply chain or Business Management
Experience:
- 15 to 18 years in procurement, with significant exposure to steel/metal sourcing
- Experience in manufacturing / fabrication / engineering industry
- Strong understanding of commodity procurement and price dynamics

Reports to: CEO / Managing Director
Pay: ₹2,000,000.00 - ₹3,000,000.00 per year
