The 2D Echo Technician is responsible for performing high-quality echocardiography examinations, operating and maintaining 2D Echo equipment, preparing preliminary findings, and assisting Consultant Cardiologists in the accurate diagnosis and management of cardiac patients. The technician must ensure proper documentation, patient care, and timely reporting of investigations.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties
- Perform 2D Echocardiography examinations as prescribed by the Consultant Cardiologist.
- Conduct Doppler, Color Doppler, M-Mode, and other echocardiographic studies as required.
- Prepare patients for cardiac diagnostic procedures and explain the procedure to ensure patient comfort.
- Acquire clear and accurate cardiac images for diagnostic interpretation.
- Assist Cardiologists during advanced cardiac investigations when required.
Reporting & Documentation
- Generate preliminary echocardiography reports with accurate measurements and findings.
- Coordinate with the Consultant Cardiologist for review, interpretation, and final opinion/sign-off.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient records and investigation reports.
- Ensure timely delivery of finalized reports to patients and referring physicians.
Equipment Management
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the 2D Echo machine and related equipment.
- Perform routine quality checks and ensure equipment is functioning optimally.
- Coordinate with vendors and biomedical departments for preventive maintenance and servicing.
- Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards in the Echo laboratory.
Patient Care & Safety
- Ensure patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
- Follow hospital protocols, quality standards, and infection control guidelines.
- Handle emergency situations appropriately and inform the Cardiologist immediately when critical findings are observed.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. Cardiac Care Technology / B.Sc. Cardiovascular Technology / Diploma in Cardiac Technology or equivalent qualification.
- Certification in Echocardiography preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience performing 2D Echocardiography in a hospital or cardiac center.
- Experience in handling advanced echocardiography systems and reporting software preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy and echocardiography techniques.
- Proficiency in operating 2D Echo and Doppler ultrasound equipment.
- Ability to prepare accurate technical reports.
- Good communication and patient-handling skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality healthcare services.
- Ability to work effectively with Cardiologists and multidisciplinary teams.
Salary
As per qualifications, experience, and hospital policy.
Pay: ₹22,000.00 - ₹28,000.00 per month
