Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled, performance-focused WordPress Developer to take ownership of our core web platform. In this role, you will build, customize, and optimize dynamic features, maintain ultra-fast page load speeds, ensure ironclad security, and craft an exceptional user experience for thousands of daily visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Custom Development: Develop custom WordPress themes, plugins, and custom post types (CPTs) tailored to scholarship listings, filtering systems, and user dashboards.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize site speed, database queries, and caching mechanisms to handle high concurrent traffic seamlessly.
- Database & Filtering Architecture: Design and refine structured taxonomies, custom fields (ACF/JetEngine), and intuitive multi-attribute filtering (e.g., search by degree, location, deadline, or eligibility).
- UI/UX Integration: Translate Figma/Adobe XD designs into clean, semantic, responsive, and mobile-first HTML/CSS/JS code.
- SEO & Core Web Vitals: Ensure site structure, schema markup, and loading performance comply with Google’s Core Web Vitals and SEO best practices.
- Integrations & APIs: Connect third-party APIs, payment gateways, email marketing platforms, and analytics tools.
- Security & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, security audits, automated backups, and plugin/core updates with zero downtime.
Requirements & Qualifications
- WordPress Core: Deep understanding of the WordPress REST API, action hooks, filter hooks, and database structures.
- Page Builders & Custom Fields: Advanced experience with tools like Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), Elementor/Gutenberg block development, or custom page building workflows.
- Database Management: Experience managing and optimizing large MySQL databases with frequent search and filter queries.
- Problem Solver: Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills when managing complex plugin conflicts or performance bottlenecks.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Prior experience building ed-tech, job board, directory, or listing websites.
- Knowledge of headless WordPress or React/Vue.js integration.
- Familiarity with Google Schema structured data for job/educational postings.
