Job Description — Backend Developer (Python/Django & Node.js)
Role: Backend Developer Experience: 3+ Years Type: Full-time
Location: Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore
About the Role
We’re looking for a Backend Developer who goes beyond writing functional code — someone who thinks
in systems, ships clean APIs, and takes full ownership of the backend. You’ll work across Django and
Node.js services, third-party integrations, payment infrastructure, and distributed microservices in a
fast-moving product environment.
We actively embrace AI-assisted development. You should be comfortable using AI tools as a force
multiplier — not as a crutch, but as a way to move faster, catch issues earlier, and ship with more
confidence.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Django/DRF and/or Node.js
- (Express/NestJS)
- Architect and ship microservices with clear boundaries, async task handling, and fault tolerance
— across Python and Node.js services as needed
- Integrate third-party platforms — logistics/shipping providers, payment gateways (Stripe,
Razorpay, PayU, or similar), and external SaaS APIsBullMQ/Agenda (Node.js side)—for async processing, queues, and scheduled jobs
- Set up and manage background workers—Celery + Redis/RabbitMQ (Python side),
- Own database design in PostgreSQL/MongoDB — schema design, indexing, query optimization
- Write well-tested code with unit and integration tests (pytest / Jest)
- Collaborate with frontend and DevOps on API contracts, deployments, and CI/CD pipelines
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards
- Use AI coding tools to accelerate development, reduce boilerplate, and improve code quality
What We’re Looking For
Must-haves (Python track):
- Strong hands-on Python and production experience with Django and DRF
- Experience with Celery or equivalent task queue systems
Must-haves (Node.js track):
- Strong hands-on JavaScript/TypeScript
- Production experience with Node.js and a framework like Express.js or NestJS
- Experience with async/event-driven patterns — Promises, async/await, EventEmitter
- Familiarity with BullMQ, Agenda, or similar for background job processing
- Comfortable working with npm/yarn, module bundling, and Node’s package ecosystem
Common requirements (both tracks):
- 3+ years of backend development experience
- Experience shipping payment integrations (checkout flows, webhooks, refunds, reconciliation)
- Experience with shipping/logistics API integrations (Shiprocket, Delhivery, EasyPost, or similar)
- Solid understanding of microservices design — service boundaries, inter-service communication
- (REST/gRPC/message queues)
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL or MongoDB and Redis
- Comfortable working with Docker for local dev and deployments
- Strong grasp of authentication patterns — JWT, OAuth2, session managementGood to have:
- Working knowledge of both Python and Node.js (full-stack backend versatility is a strong plus)
- Experience with FastAPI alongside Django, or NestJS alongside Express
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Cloudflare)
- Exposure to event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
AI-Augmented Development — What We Expect
We don’t just tolerate AI tools — we expect you to use them well. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
Code Generation & Completion
- Use GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code to scaffold boilerplate, generate serializers/DTOs,
- write repetitive CRUD logic, and speed up model/migration work in Django or Node.js(Mongoose/Prisma/TypeORM)
- Prompt AI tools effectively to generate first-draft integration code for payment and shipping APIs,
then review and harden it yourselfDebugging & Code Review
- Use AI assistants to explain unfamiliar error traces, suggest fixes for failing tests, and review your
- own code before pushing
- Treat AI-flagged issues the same way you’d treat a peer review comment — worth reading, not
blindly applyingDocumentation & API Contracts
- Auto-generate docstrings/JSDoc, OpenAPI/Swagger specs, and README drafts using AI tools,
- then refine them to production quality
- Use AI to produce or validate Postman collections and API test cases fasterArchitecture & Design Thinking
- Use AI (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) as a sounding board when designing service boundaries,
- choosing between queue strategies, or evaluating tradeoffs in database schema design
- Ability to prompt for pros/cons, edge cases, and failure modes before writing the first line of codeTesting
- Generate unit test skeletons and edge case suggestions using AI, then complete and own the test
- suite
- Use AI to identify untested paths or simulate API error scenariosWhat This Is Not
- Pasting AI output without reading it
- Using AI to mask gaps in fundamentals
- Relying on autocomplete to write logic you don’t understand
The bar is still correctness, maintainability, and ownership. AI just helps you get there faster.
What “3 Years Experience” Means Here
This isn’t a junior role with a 3-year label. You should be able to:
- Take an integration requirement and ship it end-to-end without being walked through it
- Spot bad API design before it becomes a maintenance headache
- Debug a failing Celery task, a slow query, or an unhandled Promise rejection without asking where
- to start
- Have an opinion on when not to use a microservice
- Know when AI-generated code is good enough and when it needs a complete rewriteStack We Work With
